Visiting The Mercantile

We did a little side trip today to Pawhuska, Oklahoma so that I could visit the establishment of one of my favorite Food Network stars -- Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman. This was not a spur of the moment decision, we have been planning the detour for months and convinced ourselves that "yes, definitely this is on our way home!

We choose a route that would take us passed the Ranch. Peaceful country scene.

We decided we did not need this for the family room but, it sure does look good here.

The glassware available makes one think of Spring, flowers, and luscious tea.

Of course, there were several tea accessories I just had to bring home.

Oklahoma, especially, Pawhuska has found a new source of revenue and tourism . . . And it is not cattle or oil this time; although there certainly is plenty of both. Tour buses and people by the thousands arrive daily to shop and dine at The Mercantile. Unfortunately, our schedule did no permit us to wait for over and hour to have lunch but a quick trip to the Bakery provided us with special treats for the road.

From all the new construction underway I would say that The Pioneer Woman is putting Pawhuska on an upward swing that is benefiting many local people and businesses. And to think this began with one woman providing meals for her family. Great Job! Ree.

Until I once again visit Pawhuska, I raise my tea cuppa to the Drummond Family,
